The Origins of a Long Journey

EKO was founded and still operates in central Italy, in what has been recognized as the quintessential Italian Musical District and the most important in Europe. Specifically, in the Marche Region, primarily across the municipalities of Recanati, Castelfidardo, Senigallia, Loreto, and Montelupone, the late 1950s and early 1960s saw the emergence and growth of the most significant Italian companies in the musical instruments and related industries (accordions, guitars and other string instruments, melodeons, electronic organs, and stage audio sound systems). By the mid-1960s, the Marche musical instrument sector employed approximately 60,000 people and represented one of the most creative and innovative clusters in the industry worldwide. Even today, many world-leading companies, such as EKO, continue to operate in this very same area, at the heart of Italian creativity and style.
